Kemani Anderson & Luke Bacchus
Kemani Anderson took part in the Montreux Jazz Academy in 2022, having previously performed at the Festival with Secret Night Gang, the group he co-founded and in which he is lead vocalist and composer. Inspired by Donny Hathaway, Al Jarreau and Bobby McFerrin, the British musician is equally at home in jazz, funk, R&B and soul. Kemani will be joined by London pianist Luke Bacchus, one of the members of the in-house band for the Montreux Jazz Festival’s jam sessions this summer. Trained at Trinity Laban and a finalist in the 2022 BBC Young Jazz Musician competition, Luke explores his Caribbean roots through a distinctive approach to jazz, inspired by heroes including Herbie Hancock, McCoy Tyner and Thelonious Monk.
