Camilla George
Nigerian saxophonist and composer based in London, Camilla George fuses jazz, Afrofuturism and hip-hop into a distinctly musical and political language deeply rooted in her Ibibio heritage. Born in Eket, Nigeria, she took up the saxophone at the age of 11 and quickly won awards that enabled her to pursue her musical training. Acclaimed by the press from her debut album Isang (2014), she has become one of the leading figures on London’s jazz scene, collaborating with Shabaka Hutchings, Soweto Kinch and Nubya Garcia. She was nominated for the Jazz FM Awards in 2019, before winning the ‘Best Jazz Act’ award at the Urban Music Awards in 2023. Having performed at the Montreux Jazz Festival in 2025, the saxophonist has been selected to join the International Jazz Day Concert 2027 alongside numerous legendary musicians.
